Emotional Balancing Process

The Emotional Balancing Process works with the body’s energy system to address an issue or difficulty in your life. It can also be an effective method to process a memory about a specific troubling event from the past that continues to affect you in the present.

The process is based on the discovery that imbalances in the body’s subtle energy system can have profound affects on a person’s emotional state. Tapping on certain locations on the body can stimulate a rebalancing of that subtle energy system and a concurrent clearing of issues and memories. It seeks to address the root cause of current distress and negative emotions, which is not the issue or memory itself, but rather the disruption of the body’s energy system caused by the issue or memory. This rebalancing of the body’s energy system holds the potential for rapid, lasting relief from virtually any issue or troubling memory.

FAQ’s

How does it work?

Founded by Gaye Wilson, RN, MSN, MS, CCHt, this modality combines Gary Craig’s Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) with Larry Nims’ Be Set Free Fast (BSFF). Based on the meridian system used in Chinese medicine, the process activates points along the body’s energy channels through a gentle tapping. During the tapping, the therapist says and the client repeats various affirmations that support freedom from the issue/memory. This tapping sends a message to the body’s emotional/energy system to rebalance itself. This tapping stimulates the brain to produce endorphins, which creates a sense of good feeling that accompanies the verbal affirmations. This process can be effective with virtually any issue or memory.

How is it similar to or different than hypnosis?

One might think of this process as a fusion of hypnosis and acupressure. While the experience can be deeply relaxing, there is no formal induction of hypnosis. However, a light hypnotic trance does naturally occur, in part, because the brain releases those relaxing, “feel-good” endorphins during the process. Also, like hypnosis, the subconscious receives suggestions and affirmations that support freedom from the issue or memory. At the conclusion of the process, I will typically add some additional positive suggestions much as I would in any hypnotherapy session.

What is your training?

I received my training in the Emotional Balancing Process and my Hypnotherapy certification from the Hypnotherapy Training Institute, which is one of the oldest and most highly regarded schools of hypnotherapy in the country. The Hypnotherapy Training Institute is licensed by the State of California and approved by the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, the professional organization through which I also have certification as a hypnotherapist..

How long do sessions last?

After an initial phone interview to make sure we are a good fit to work together, the initial session is generally 90 minutes. Most subsequent sessions are 60 minutes.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes, everything you say in a session is confidential. This is my commitment to you so that our work together can be honest, deep and not waste time beating around the bush. Confidentiality is also part of the professional code of ethics for hypnotherapy.

Where do sessions take place?

At my office in San Rafael, California, which is located in the center of town between Sun Valley and the West End, or at another office in North Berkeley, California. Because hospitality is an important part of any therapy, hot tea is always available.

What is the cost?

The fee is $75 per session (sliding scale available for those with fixed/low incomes).

Unlike psychotherapy, sessions tend to be far fewer in number, which makes this kind of work a great value. Discounts and packages are also available.

If you cannot afford one-on-one sessions, other options include attending group meetings, most of which are without charge (donations welcome), or enrolling in a class.
